Solecism Or Experience
Relying fully on one's own recollections is a precarious stance to assume. The process of memory collection is not a passive act of data storage as we are wont to believe, but an active process of filtering that travels the sinuous path of subconscious sociological perspectives and prejudices. The details of an event deteriorate in our minds even as they occur. As time passes, the inherent weakness of our retentive faculties is revealed, as complete fiction is transformed into indissoluble fact. We watch as the facade represented by our memories periodically crumbles, thus revealing the fallibility of our perceptions, inciting some to hold their impressions with ever more conviction, and others to accept the tenuous condition of knowledge and belief.
I find it safer to enter a covenant with the written word than to rely solely upon my memory, and so here I've archived essential memories, acuity, and sophistry.
